Wait – so you’re telling me that North Korea launched a rocket that fell into the sea? And that both Artemis Pebdani and Brent Pope are in the cast to play Kim Jong-Il and Kim Jong-Un? Yeah, I think I might be able to write something on that….
Our first show of 2012 was also our first show since the death of Kim Jong-Il. And given that we had our Kim, our Gaddafi, our Diego, and even our Chuck Beanster in the cast, the stars were aligned for the perfect sendoff to our favorite crazy bloodthirsty dictator. Even at 8 and a half minutes, it came out pretty “hilarious”.
You’ve seen Nicholas D’Agosto in movies like “Election” and “Fired Up” and on TV shows like “Heroes” and “The Office.” You can see him later this year starring in “Final Destination 5” and “From Prada to Nada” and in the new USA Network drama series “Eden.” And this Sunday, January 16 at 9, you can see him on the iO West Mainstage as he guest stars in an brand-new edition of LA’s best news-based sketch comedy show, Top Story! Weekly!

Any time I can find a reason to write for one of the Top Story! Weekly cast‘s recurring characters it’s fun. When the cast member is Artemis Pebdani and the recurring character is Kim Jong-Il, it’s a blast!
The participation of North Korea in the World Cup gave me a chance to write and direct a sketch with Artemis Pebdani’s always-hilarious interpretation of Kim Jong-Il – this time, with his invisible phone!
North Korea’s World Cup team may not have a lot of fans, but they do have their number one superfan – Kim…er, Jim Jong-Il!
