I did a take on the Donald Sterling/Clippers matter by using the old “slice of life” approach. The pace is too slow in this scene, but I think you’ll get what I’m going for.
Hey! It’s been a while! But when our show’s most loyal fan, Herb Koss, celebrated his 80th birthday a few days before our March 9th show I knew we had to do something to address it. Brian Vestal does an absolutely amazing characterization of Herb here – even if you don’t know him, you’ll really enjoy it!!
I won’t lie: this episode of “Top Story! Weekly” wasn’t our strongest. But this sketch I wrote, in honor of the premiere of season 4 of “Downton Abbey” that very night, really hit. I guess if only one sketch in a show goes well, it’s nice that it’s the one you wrote!
I realized a week ago that noted iO West Irish-American Sean Cowhig was in the Top Story! Weekly cast on St. Patrick’s Day, and I couldn’t let that opportunity go by without poking fun at Sean’s – and my – Irish heritage. Here’s the result; Sean, Phillip Wilburn and Lauren Miller all hit it out of the park!

I was kinda surprised at the extent to which Davy Jones’ death affected people. I think it’s because even though he was 66, the public’s image of him is frozen at the age he was in “The Monkees.” And of course there was one classic TV appearance he made after that: in the famous “Getting Davy Jones” episode of “The Brady Bunch.” Which gave me the idea for this sketch, which people really seemed to enjoy. (The key was figuring out the game with Bobby.)
